An unprecedented scientific adventure is the subject of New Species - The Expedition of the Century , a brand-new feature-length documentary from GRIFA FILMES, an award-winning Brazilian production company with over 20 years of history.
Fifty scientists led by Dr. Mario Cohn-Haft from INPA (National Institute for Amazonian Research) were part of the expedition, along with 10 professionals from the GRIFA FILMES team, plus more than 10 people who worked in the structural support of the trip, such as doctors, producers, and local teams. They spent 24 days camped in a region of the Brazilian Amazon that was still uninhabited. Statistics show that, since the 1950s, the number of species discovered in the Amazon has grown exponentially each decade, proving that there is still much to be revealed in the interior of the forest.
The production was carried out with the support of INPA (National Institute for Amazonian Research), the Brazilian Army, through CMA (Amazon Military Command), ICMBio (Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation), and Serra da Mocidade National Park.
