Specializing in Wildlife and Science/Nature documentaries, Mauricio has produced more than 60 films, including great documentary series, feature and telefilms. His adventure feature "In The Trail of Langsdorff Expedition", co-produced by Discovery and France 3, has won Discovery’s international pitching and has been distributed in more than 100 countries so far. (Brazil) and BBC LATAM; the international series "Extinctions", a co-production between France, Brazil, Singapore and Canada, also widely distributed worldwide; the 2010 Christmas’s special drama-doc "Born To Sing", co-directed by Andre Ristum (fiction) for RecordTV, which earned the channel in the 2nd place in the Brazilian audience, reaching GLOBO rates; "Saved from Extinction", a French-Brazilian wildlife series co-production aired as a Christmas special on France 5; the 2014 Brazilian World Cup special series "Assiette Brésilienne", a original Brazilian cultural-gastronomic documentary series hosted by the Brazilian chef Bel Coelho, co-produced with France for ARTE and Discovery’s TLC channel; his newest scientific-adventure documentary feature “New Species”, the film was produced by GRIFA FILMES in co-production with Gebrueder Beetz Filmproduktion (Germany), Filmland, ARTE/ZDF, NHK, Globo Filmes and GloboNews, released in April/ 2018 at ARTE/ZDF (Germany, France, Austria and Switzerland) and in Japan, coming soon in Theaters and GloboNews in Brazil; followed by three more new international co-productions, to be launched soon: "THE CLEANERS" – an international documentary feature on the backstage of biggest social media companies, the film was selected for the SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL and the Oscar’s 2019 shortlist, followed by more than 20 top-documentary film festival premieres around the world; "1968 - The Global Revolt", a documentary series on the biggest events that occurred worldwide during the time before and after the year of 68, winner of the History Pitching in La Rochelle, France; and "Zaatari - Memories of the Labyrinth", on the biggest refugee Syrian Camp, built in Jordan and supported by UN.
Executive Producer, CEO and founder of GRIFA FILMES together with his brother Mauricio Dias, Fernando is one of the greatest specialists in the international audiovisual market in Brazil. As the Executive Producer, he is responsible for coordinating Grifa’s content development. His projects have received numerous international awards, including two Emmy nominations for the documentary series "Europa Paulistana" and the documentary feature Doctors of Joy. He has actively participated in major international documentary markets since 1997, being the former president of the BRAVI (Brazilian Producer’s Association), from 2006-2009 Fernando has created and implemented the first international Brazilian’s audiovisual award-winning exportation program named Brazilian Content in partnership with Apex, MINC and Sebrae in Brazil. Fernando was partner of Mixer group from 2005 to 2009, where he set up and coordinated the company’s Division of Documentary and Content Development, focused on the international market. He produced more than 60 projects and documentaries which has been broadcast worldwide in renowned international channels. Fernando has been a regular speaker for international courses and lectures in the audiovisual field at the most important festivals and audiovisual markets, such as Hot Docs (Toronto, Canada), Miptv, MipDoc and MipCom (Cannes, France), Realscreen (Washington USA), Sunny Side of The Doc (La Rochelle, France), Rio Content Market (Rio, Brazil), Live Screen Events, Bogotá Documentary Film Festival, South African Documentary Film Festival, Getúlio Vargas College, International Film Academy, among others.
